Artsmark

Holy Trinity Catholic Primary School is very proud to have been awarded the prestigious Artsmark Silver Award from Arts Council England. The award is reserved for schools that offer excellent art and cultural education provision. The school has been supported on its journey to achieving this valued status by Curious Minds, the Arts Council England appointed regional agency for creative and cultural education for the North West.

Holy Trinity has been working towards this award for two years, a process which requires the school to make a formal statement of commitment, followed by submission of case study evidence that demonstrates the school’s active commitment to embedding arts and culture within their curriculum. We believe every child should have the opportunity to create, compose, and perform, as well as to visit, experience, participate in and review extraordinary work. Artsmark can help unlock the potential of children and young people, help to develop character and talent, and increase their knowledge and understanding.

Artsmark is the creative quality standard for schools which actively champion high quality art and cultural education within their curriculum. Culture and creativity increases pupils’ confidence, critical thinking, communication and literacy skills, improving attainment and bringing core subjects to life.

In order to achieve Artsmark Silver status, Holy Trinity has demonstrated its commitment to incorporating art and culture into every student’s life and learning, as well as showing ambitious plans for the future. The school will now continue this journey with the support of Curious Minds.

As part of its Statement of Commitment, Holy Trinity highlighted the strengths of its drama, music, art and educational visits provision. Commenting on receiving Artsmark status, Darren Henley, Chief Executive of Arts Council England, said: “I would like to congratulate Holy Trinity on achieving Artsmark and welcome them into our growing family of Artsmark schools. To become an Artsmark school, Holy Trinity had to demonstrate its dedication to the arts. It has put together an ambitious plan which will ensure that each of its pupils is given the opportunity to explore and build a love of the arts that will remain with them as they go through adult life.”
